Protolyst or Zettelkasten really focus on keeping track how an idea evolve and be able to trace back. Not sure how useful this feature is to normal people.

The key is not starting from scratch for whatever paper or essay trying to work on. That's why Protolyst enables users to structure the essay by simply dragging and drop the evidences, i.e. atoms. Protolyst will automatically generate the reference for those atoms.

Protolyst focus more on lower level details comparing to LookAside.

Note Taking Principles:

  2. Irreducible ideas: idea in a self-contained simple form
  3. Connect the idea to other knoweldge

Fleet Notes:

  1. Source (trigger of the aha moment) + Context (digested version of the aha moment)
  2. Taken while reading something

Permenant Note: Standalone notes that make sense without the context they are taken from.

When you look at a note, you can trace how the idea got evolved exactly.
